National Rare Disease Day

Yesterday was National Rare Disease Day, a day calling attention to unusual diseases that affect less that 200,000 Americans.  Sadly, rare diseases don't get much attention from those researching treatments because not much profit can be made when the "user pool" is so small.  Yes, we need to support seeking the root causes and treatments for Alzheimer's, cancer, etc., but we also need to recognize they knowledge that can be gained from exploring and treating rare conditions.
